Not only is watermelon hydrating, it is also a rich source of the amino acid L-citrulline which helps to increase blood flow- a necessity for fertility health.

L-citrulline can also increase the production of nitric oxide which is an important compound in erectile function and can increase sexual activity in men.

The red colouring in watermelon comes from the lycopene content which can improve sperm concentration and motility.
Watermelon also contains zinc, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and folic acid both important nutrients in the fertility health of men and women.

In Chinese medicine watermelon is known to be cooling and can remove heat like rashes and acne. It can also remove summer heat like sun stroke. Watermelon can also move water and its seeds can be used as a diuretic which is great for swelling and water retention in the body.
